I had a dream not where I was addicted, but where somebody I don’t recognize in real life was addicted. Kind of felt like a member of my family, but also felt like it was a person whose life I was just looking in on. He (we will call him “Bob” as it makes the story easier to tell) was addicted to what was referred to as “meth” in my dream, but he was doing it out of plastic cups and he would dip his fingers in this tar-like (heroin-like) substance and lick it off. Maybe smoke it too. Anyway, Bob has a wife who is not an addict and she is frustrated by his behavior, but there is not much she does or can do other than encourage him not to use. Her frustration is totally palpable to me in the dream. It is almost as if she is me and I can feel her thoughts. So, the man has ups and downs in the dream and the woman eventually becomes pregnant and has a baby. Bob continues to use. Though, it is implied that his use is just occasional. The next scene I remember, they have had triplets (described by him in my dream as “two twin baby girls and a triplet son,”) and they are these beautiful perfect little creatures with huge blue eyes. He is carrying his son, who is dressed in a little baby tux, light blue for summer and he has this very round face, looks like his father used to. But Bob is now much thinner, looks sickly. His wife is carrying the two girls who are equally dressed up. Along with the two girls who seem to be in some sort of booster seat, she is carrying a full grown man who looks like he has just survived the Holocaust. The babies and the man are sitting in a row and she is carrying them. Seems we are going to a graduation– perhaps for their first child??– we all take a seat. Sitting next to me is my real life sister. She confirms for me that the emaciated man is Bob’s brother and that he too is addicted and that this story does not end well for him (I understand that he dies). She also says that he is not the only one the story does not end well for. She confirms that Bob is also back heavily using, which is why he is so thin and he will also die. The wife also looks thin and apparently she has dabbled but is not addicted. My sister implies, though that everyone who has even tried meth is in danger and goes on to name my real-life brother, the wife, etc … (Interestingly, in real life, I have no problems with drugs, nor have I ever tried or wanted to try meth or heroin…) I can’t make heads or tails of this dream. I remember waking and thinking what a waste of a life. Any insight would be appreciated.
